Training Improvements and Transparency: Two Things the Getac Video BWC has Brought to New Richmond, WI

The New Richmond Police Department has recently added a new tool to their arsenal, Getac Video Solutions Body-Worn Camera (BWC). Several months into the deployment, the Wisconsin department is pleased with our compact yet powerful police body camera.

A new perspective

New Richmond Police Chief Craig Yehlik told RiverTowns.net that while the cameras aren’t going to capture every angle of a situation, it provides another perspective.

“People really need to keep in mind, the cameras are a tool,” said Yehlik. “We like to think that they protect the officers and that they protect the citizens in a number of different ways. It provides transparency. Hopefully, it will help us build on the support we already have from the citizens of New Richmond. This is one more step to show that we are in it for them.”

Yehlik also noted that the BWC provides a distinct advantage when it comes to training. By using the footage from incidents captured on the camera, officers can receive specific officer safety training to help successfully address those incidents in the future.
